The Lambert Consultation
Local people are to be asked how they want to see a former Thirsk hospital redeveloped.
Hambleton District Council is buying the Lambert Hospital to save it for the community it served. It closed its doors to patients over three years ago.
Councillors are looking at a range of ideas on how to convert the buildings but will also undertake widespread public consultation to gather local views. That will be kick started by a public meeting next

Thirsk independent traders have collaborated to create a their very own ‘Christmas in Thirsk’ video on social media, a spoof of the Visa UK Christmas advert, featuring local shopkeepers singing along to the Mariah Carey song ‘All I Want For Christmas is You’. The commercial is a rallying cry to the community to shop local in the run up to Christmas.

The Thirsk Coworking Group is a popular FREE informal coworking event for freelancers, small business owners, homeworkers and those who are otherwise self-employed. Those attending are free to bring their laptops and paperwork etc and enjoy working alongside others, collaborating, chatting and so on. Sessions such as these are great for accountability (getting that piece of work done that you procrastinate over at home/the office), sharing experiences, offering advice and support as appropriate and working alongside like-minded individuals.
Thirsk makes it into the Special Mention category for the Great British High Street Competition as recognition by the shortlisting panel.
They received 240 entries across the ‘Champion’ and ‘Rising Star’ categories this year. It has been fantastic to see such a strong response from across the country for this year’s awards – a real testament to the important role that high streets play in our lives and our communities.

We held our first breakfast networking on 17th May at the Golden Fleece.
There was a great turnout with 20 businesses coming for some networking (and bacon & sausage butties!)
The room was full of people catching up and meeting new faces in a relaxed atmosphere - exactly what networking should be about!
