The town hall was transformed into a winter wonderland, guests were treated to a drinks reception, three course meal from Friends 4 Dinner, a festive winter photo backdrop by JD Photography Ltd and danced the night away to local Thirsk band Sugartown. Over £3000 was raised during the fundraising evening through a live and silent auction plus various raffle prizes and donations by local businesses.
Supported by Thirsk Business Association, Thirsk Ladies Group run events throughout the year aimed at visitors and locals alike to raise the profile of the town and also to raise funds for Thirsk Christmas lights.
Christmas In Thirsk have also evolved over the years and now culminate in a weekend of activities at the end of November including, ‘The Big Switch On’ a free show in the Market place, a three day Christmas Fayre at Thirsk & Sowerby Town Hall, and beautiful Christmas lights enhancing the Market Place and surrounding roads throughout the festive period.
Special mentions to SB Events for organising and styling the event, My Little Graphics Co for designing the literature, Eufloria for providing the decorative centrepieces, Chapman's Pubs for running the bar, The Catering Hire Company and Insprired Event Structures for the hire of the furniture and tableware and not to forget Jill Miller and Mark Boersma for their dedicated work throughout the year.
